I’ve been looking through newspaperarchives.com and found an article from 1939 (?) about some Kaukauna scouts hiking to Rohan’s Woods.
Anybody know where that is or was?

Tom McG says Rohan's Woods was by Rohan's farm at the top of the steep hill by the 1000 Islands. Thanks, McG hotline!
UB says Rohan's Woods was out the Y. Where's the Y? Head past the Kau Athletic Field, Environmental Center, around the curve. Rohan's Woods is on the right as Z curls up and to the right, or the right arm of the Y. ZZ continues straight, along the river, or the left arm of the Y. Great woods for childhood memories. Boy Scout Acres - a Boy Scout cabin, used by all scout troops in Kaukauna. BS Acres was in Rohan's Woods. The woods had deep ravines (deep as seen through the eyes of a boy), was deeply populated with trees. One didn't have to be a Boy Scout to enjoy that woods. To go there from 8th Street, we biked or walked east, down Cutler's Hill, drank sulfur water at the bottom of the hill, and continued along the road, and, just before getting to the Y, up into Rohan's Woods. At one time, the Rohan family home was on the right side of the road (I think. I'm not certain of that) as one passed the ess curve, and reached the top of the hill on Z. That was even before the Kaukauna swimming pool was built (summer of 1950). Good contact to learn more about Scout Acres - Wally Mooney.
On the way to the Y, if the day was really hot, one could swim in the muddiest water in Kaukauna, Reichel's ice pond, behind the old Kaukauna ball park. You didn't really want to stand on the bottom, because the feet would sink into the mud up to the ankles. No value in keeping your eyes open under water, because the water was so murky. Great frog hunting pond.
Thanks for scratching my memory.
Rohan's woods was part of the Rohan Farm on Cty Rd Z at the top of the hill from the Y in the road.
There a story associated with the Rohan Farm and our family. On Jan 2,1924 my grandfather, William Haas was returning a wagon to the Rohan farm. When the team of horses returned to the Haas Farm (on Haas Rd, now Eagle Links Golf course)without William, the family found his body on the road dead from a heart attack. That why my name is William, after my grandfather.
Thanks,

Rohan Woods is located on Cty Hy Z up the hill from the Y in the road. This was the site of the Rohan Farm.
The Rohan farm has meaning to our family. On January 2, 1924, my grandfather, William Haas was returning a wagon to the Rohan farm from the his farm(Haas farm was located on Haas Road, now the site of Eagle Links Golf Course.) William's wagon and team of horses returned to the Haas farm without William. The Haas family found Willliam body on the road, dead from a heart attack. Since I was born 6 weeks later, I was named after my grandfather.
